Oyster Farmer

1h 34m • Drama, Comedy, Crime, Romance • 2004

Jack’s plan to hijack an armoured car takes an unexpected turn after he joins a community of oyster farmers on the Hawkesbury River.

Crime, romance – and oysters! Director Anna Reeves and producer Anthony Buckley serve up a romantic story about starting over and getting all your shucks in a row.

Jack Flange (Alex O’Loughlin) has committed the seemingly perfect crime: he’s robbed an armoured car and mailed himself the cash via express post. What could go wrong? While he waits for his ill-gotten gains to arrive, he’s lying low at an oyster farm on the Hawkesbury River. What he doesn’t count on is falling in love.

OYSTER FARMER made a star of Alex O’Loughlin and features textured performances from David Field and Kerry Armstrong. Shot on real Hawkesbury farms, this endearing film has a genuine affection for the inter-generational farmers who make oysters their business.
