The Killing of Angel Street

1h 38m • Thriller, Crime, Mystery • 1981

With her childhood neighbourhood under threat, Jessica is drawn into a life-or-death battle against corrupt developers.

Drawing on the activism of the Builders Labourers Federation in the 1970s, this conspiracy thriller takes a sharp look at a shadowy chapter of Australian history.

Jessica Simmonds (Elizabeth Alexander) returns from abroad to find her father caught in a battle with dirty developers, desperate to save their historic street. When he mysteriously turns up dead, she teams up with union leader Jeff Elliot (John Hargreaves) and angry residents to take on the fight – and the threat of organised crime.

Producer Anthony Buckley and CADDIE director Donald Crombie reunite for a powerful, unflinching story that was partly inspired by the unsolved disappearance of conservationist Juanita Nelson.
